Clinical Significance

Heart-type fatty acid binding protein is a small molecule (molecular weight is about 15kDa) soluble cytoplasmic protein, which is abundant in myocardial tissue. Release characteristics of H - FABP plasma and myoglobin (myoglobin, MYO) are the same, but the content of H - FABP in myocardial cells is higher than MYO, and content in the blood plasma is far lower than the MYO. Therefore, after myocardial injury, plasma H-fabp rapidly increases beyond the normal upper limit, which is faster than MYO and troponin, so it has more diagnostic value. In recent years, numerous studies have shown that serum H-fabp can identify patients with acute myocardial infarction in ultra-acute period, especially patients with chest pain within 6H, which is of great help in deciding whether to be hospitalized, coronary angiography and interventional therapy. These characteristics of heart-type fatty acid binding protein make it a promising indicator for early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), the representative of acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

Inspecting Principle

The method is enhanced immunoturbidimetry. The antibody is bound to the latex granules, and the tested antigen in the patient's serum (or standard) binds to the antibody on the surface of the latex granules in the buffer, cross-linking the latex granules with each other and increasing the turbidity of the solution. Within a certain range, the turbidity of the reaction liquid is linearly correlated with the amount of the measured antigen.
